Hiking in Mönichkirchen am Wechsel

Starting point is Mönichkirchen [getting there] at the bottom station of the chair lift. Take it levitating to the Mönichkirchner Schwaig und ascend along the ski run up to the Hallerhaus.

Further over the Steinerne Stiege the path leads you to the Niederwechsel, where a memorial to soldiers of the Second World War is situated.

Always on the tops of the mountainious region you get from Niederwechsel to the summit Hochwechsel. After a pleasant rest in the Wetterkoglerhaus and a visit of the Commemorative Chapel the Vorauer Schwaig is reached on green mountain pastures gently sloping downwards.

Further downwards you come to the Mönichkircher Schwaig passing the Studentenkreuz. Attractive options to return to the beginning point are a ride on the First Austrian Scooter Course or the comfort of the chair lift use.

Hiking maps can be obtained either at the bottom station or at the upside exit of the chair lift. Otherwise it´s possible to buy your map at the restaurants or at the local authority.
